silverfish pest control in the lunt

Silverfish are a wingless insect that has a flat body and is covered in silvery scales. Full matured Silverfish are aroundĀ  3/4 inch long. Silverfish can’t bite or sting humans.

Silverfish are most commonly found living in cool, damp areas of the home such as the bathroom or cellar. Silverfish feed primarily at night and hide in small, dark crevices during the daytime. Infestations of Silverfish can spread fast, as one single female is capable of laying up to 100 eggs during her lifetime. These eggs can hatch in as little as three weeks.

Many property owners don’t know they have a silverfish infestationĀ  until they begin to see damage that occurs during feeding. Silverfish feed on a variety of fabrics and paper. They are especially drawn to material used in books such as glue, glazed paper and starches. Silverfish also feed on foods high in protein and carbohydrates, such as dried meat products. Since silverfish grow and molt during their lifetime, homeowners may find skin casts, fecal matter and scales scattered around their home, as well.
